Artist Spotlight – Arctor [FREE DRUMSTEP DOWNLOADS!]

by admin on January 3, 2011

Drumstep has taken over my brain recently. It seems like almost a more natural fit for a lot of these crazy wobbly sounds that I love. Speaking of crazy wobbly sounds, let me introduce you to Arctor, a 19 year old producer from Craiova, Romania. I had a chance to catch up with Arctor via email, and got to talk to him a little bit about his tunes.

“I’m a 19 year old Romanian student who got into dubstep really late. In the summer of 2009 I heard the song Havoc B by Enter Shikari and that’s how I discovered dubstep. Before that I played bass and vocals in a local metalcore/deathcore band. Dubstep was the first of the electronica genres that appealed to me. I usually listened (and still do) to metalcore, progressive metal and stuff like that. Some of my first dubstep artists that I loved were Vaski, Datsik, Bar 9, Skream, Benga and others.”

“The newest tune on my soundcloud (Mammoth) wasn’t really even supposed to be a tune. At first it was a song idea that wasn’t gonna make it as a tune. As I was fooling around and discovering FL Studio’s Gross Beat my roommate really liked the sound and feel of it and pushed me into making it a finished song. A bit too glitchy but I was experimenting with Gross Beat so had to try out a bunch of stuff.”

Here are a couple tracks from Arctor, and he says he has a couple big things in the works as well. Be on the look out for Arctor in 2011!
